What To Expect

Here’s what you can expect during your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment:

Arrival and Preparation: When you arrive our team will clean the tattooed area and apply an ice pack to minimize discomfort during the session.

Laser Treatment: The PicoWay® laser will be customized according to the details of your tattoo. During the treatment, you may feel a sensation similar to a rubber band snap as the ink particles are broken down.

Session Duration: The length of each session varies depending on the tattoo's size and complexity, ranging from a few seconds to an hour. Several sessions will be required for complete removal.

Post-Treatment Care: Following the treatment, the area may become red and swollen, resembling a mild sunburn. Our team will cover it with a bandage and provide you with an ice pack to soothe the area.

Pain Management: Most clients report minimal discomfort, but over-the-counter pain relievers can be taken if needed.

How To Prepare

Proper preparation is essential for successful Laser Tattoo Removal. Follow these guidelines to ensure the best outcome:

Consultation: Begin with a consultation to assess your tattoo and discuss your goals, allowing us to develop a personalized treatment plan just for you.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area for at least two weeks before your treatment, as sunburned or tanned skin increases the risk of side effects.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water before your session keeps your skin hydrated, which can help in the healing process.

Avoid Certain Products: Avoid using products containing retinoids or exfoliating acids on the tattooed area for at least a week before your treatment.

Shave the Area: If your tattoo is in a hairy area, please shave the hair before your appointment. Avoid waxing or plucking, as it may irritate the skin.

Aftercare

Following these aftercare instructions will ensure optimal healing and prevent complications:

Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Gently cleanse the treated area with mild soap and water, then pat it dry with a clean towel. Avoid soaking the area in water.

Apply Ointment: Use the prescribed ointment to keep the area moisturized and support the healing process. Avoid products not recommended by our technicians.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Shield the treated area from direct sunlight. If needed, apply a high-SPF sunscreen to avoid pigmentation problems.

Manage Discomfort: Apply a cold compress to alleviate swelling and discomfort. Avoid picking or scratching the area to prevent scarring.

Monitor Healing: Keep an eye out for any unusual redness, swelling, or discharge, and contact us immediately if you notice any concerning symptoms.

FAQs

Have questions? We have the answers! Explore our FAQ section to find everything you need to know.

How much does Laser Tattoo Removal cost?

Laser Tattoo Removal pricing is determined by the size of your tattoo, ranging from $125 to $600 per session. We also offer package deals: Save 10% when you purchase a package of 3 sessions.

What does aftercare involve?

Proper aftercare is essential for the success of your tattoo removal process. After your treatment, it’s important to keep the treated area clean and dry. Use a mild soap and water to gently cleanse the skin, then pat it dry. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks, as UV rays can heighten the risk of hyperpigmentation. If you must go outside, be sure to apply a high-SPF sunscreen.

To keep the treated area hydrated and support healing, use the ointments recommended by our team. Refrain from picking or scratching the area, as this can lead to scarring. If you experience persistent swelling or discomfort, a cold compress can offer relief. Also, keep an eye on the treated area for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, pus, or excessive swelling, and contact us immediately if you notice anything unusual.

What should I expect post-treatment?

Following each Laser Tattoo Removal session, it’s common to notice side effects like redness, swelling, and occasional blistering, which typically resolve within a few days. Some clients might also experience minor scabbing as the skin heals. This is a natural reaction, signaling that your body is working to eliminate the fragmented ink particles.

Proper aftercare is essential for promoting healing and minimizing the risk of complications, such as infection or scarring. After your session, our team will provide you with comprehensive instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed for successful tattoo removal depends on various factors, such as the size, color, depth, and density of the tattoo, along with your skin type and how long the tattoo has been in place.

Typically, most tattoos require around 6 to 10 sessions to see substantial fading or complete removal. Treatments are scheduled 8 to 12 weeks apart to allow your skin enough time to heal and for your body to eliminate the fragmented ink particles. During your consultation, our technician will assess your tattoo and create a tailored treatment plan for you.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal painful?

Many clients describe the feeling during Laser Tattoo Removal as akin to the snap of a rubber band against their skin. Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but to make the experience more comfortable, we use a Zimmer Cryo cooling device to cool the skin during treatment, reducing discomfort.

Additionally, for clients who are more sensitive, we offer numbing options such as topical anesthetic cream, which can be applied before the session to further alleviate any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

What colors can be treated?

The PicoWay® laser is highly versatile and capable of treating a wide range of tattoo colors. Unlike older laser technologies, PicoWay® uses multiple wavelengths to effectively target various pigments, including challenging colors like green, blue, and yellow, as well as more common shades like red, brown, and black.

Its accuracy and adaptability make it effective for all skin types, including darker tones. The laser can be finely tuned to achieve optimal results while preventing excessive heat damage to the skin.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal safe?

Yes, Laser Tattoo Removal is typically safe when conducted by a trained professional using advanced technology like the PicoWay® laser. The PicoWay® is specifically designed to target ink particles effectively while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

However, the key to ensuring safety is proper care—following pre-treatment and post-treatment  guidelines is essential. This helps minimize the risk of side effects like hyperpigmentation, blistering, or scarring, allowing for a smooth recovery and the best possible outcome.

How does Laser Tattoo Removal work?

The PicoWay® system works by emitting incredibly short, high-energy pulses known as picosecond pulses. These energy bursts precisely target the tattoo ink, breaking it into tiny fragments while minimizing heat damage to the surrounding skin. This accuracy greatly lowers the risk of scarring and provides a more comfortable experience.

After each session, your body's lymphatic system gradually processes and removes these ink particles over several weeks. Noticeable fading typically occurs within the first month, and treatments are spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and for maximum ink clearance.

What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser Tattoo Removal is a procedure that uses advanced laser technology to break down the ink particles embedded in your skin. At Reversal Laser Studio, we use the state-of-the-art PicoWay® laser by Candela, which represents a significant improvement over older removal methods.

The PicoWay® laser provides faster, safer, and more effective results due to its advanced picosecond technology, which creates ultra-short bursts of energy to break down even stubborn ink. Over time, your body's immune system naturally eliminates these fragmented ink particles, gradually fading the tattoo.
